2012 ANNUAL MEETING, MULTI-UNITS, APRIL 18-20, 2012

ATLANTA MARRIOTT NW OFF WINDY HILLS

This year we are hosting a multi unit meeting at the Marriott Northwest ( Top of the perimeter I-75 & I-285 ).  We have a great line up of events coming together which include:

New – Opening Session with a session designed to help exisiting agencies and help train new agency owners and managers - Collections 101.  This lively interactive session will be designed to let some of our members serve on a panel and partipate in the training in areas of notices, collection calls, employment screening, motivation, payments, compliance and a number of aspects of running a collection agency.  This will be designed for:  Owners, Managers, Collectors, and staff.  You may think you know how most of these functions apply but there will be a number of new insights offered during this morning and early afternoon training.  John Bedard will help us understand how the Georgia Fair Business Act applies to our operations.

For those new members, this will be a must to keep you out of complaints and perhaps lawsuits.

Martin Sher, immediate past ACA President, will bring us an update as well as information on the changes being prosposed and voted on to change the governace structure of ACA, which includes downsizing the board to 15 members instead of representatives from each unit (74 in the past).

Thursday evening we are planning a Casino Night.  Following dinner (on your own in the hotel or at surrounding restaurants) members and our vendor partners will have the opportunity to engage in roulette, black jack, poker or some of the other venues that will be offered by a professional casino vendor.  Proceeds will benefit our legislative endeavors.  Chips will be available for sell and vendors will be promoting visits with gifts of chips to attendees.  Cash prizes will be awarded at the end of the evening, the more chips you have at the end of the evening, the better your odds of winning.  Everyone will have a chance to win whether they gamble or not.  This should provide an evening of entertainment and fun for the entire group.  As in the past, John Bedard will be presenting a session updating us on the latest litigation issues.

A new portion of this years meeting will be the presentation by several of our vendor partners on innovative technological changes which are being offered to agencies and law firms.  If you have never been to an annual meeting, this session will be very informative to you by enlightening you to changes which allow us to better communicate, take payments, find consumers, and other services offered by these valuable partners to our industry.

The rate for the Marriott will be $ 150 which includes the attendees breakfast and lunch.  For those who would like to stay off site or are in the area, a day guest rate of $ 49 will apply for those not staying at the hotel (covers your meals for the day).  We will provide a light evening snacks during the opening ceremonies.  The activity on Wednesday evening will be dinner on your own expense following the opening of the expo.

The hotel rate of $150 is for single occupancy because this is a CMP rate, it will be higher for double occupancy.  To place your reservations please ensure your mention you are with the GEORGIA COLLECTORS ASSOCIATION otherwise you will be subject to the $ 49 per person day rate.  Call the toll free number of 800-228-9290 or to call the hotel locally (770) 952 7900 or you may click on the link below.
